Roasted Figs With Roquefort, Walnuts and Rosemary Honey

Roasted figs with Roquefort, walnuts, and rosemary honey make a simple sweet-savory appetizer.

The figs soften in the oven while the cheese melts slightly and the walnuts add crunch.

It is quick to prepare and works well as a starter or small plate.

Ingredients for 4 servings

  • 8 fresh figs
  • 80 g Roquefort cheese
  • 40 g walnuts, roughly chopped
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 small rosemary sprig
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil
  • 1 pinch black pepper

Prepare the figs

Preheat the oven to 190°C. Cut a cross into the top of each fig without cutting all the way through. Open them gently with your fingers.

Add the filling

Place a small piece of Roquefort inside each fig. Add chopped walnuts and a light drizzle of olive oil.

Roast and finish

Warm the honey with rosemary for 1 minute, then remove from heat. Roast the figs for 8 to 10 minutes, until soft and glossy.

Drizzle with rosemary honey and finish with black pepper before serving.

Conclusion

These roasted figs are best served warm, when the cheese is soft and the honey is fragrant but not overpowering.
