Homemade Spice Mix to Bring Out Beef Flavor

A balanced beef spice mix should add depth without covering the natural flavor of the meat.

This blend uses warm spices, pepper and garlic for pan-cooked beef, skewers, burgers or oven dishes.

Ingredients for one small jar

  • 2 tablespoons paprika
  • 1 tablespoon ground cumin
  • 1 tablespoon ground coriander
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon fine salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1/4 teaspoon chili powder, optional

How to prepare the mix

Add all the spices to a dry bowl and stir until the color is even. Transfer to a clean jar and close it tightly.

Keep the jar in a cool, dry cupboard. Avoid storing it next to the stove, where steam and heat can weaken the aroma.

How to use it

For 500 g beef, use 2 teaspoons of the spice mix with 1 tablespoon olive oil. Coat the beef evenly and let it rest for 15 to 20 minutes before cooking.

Helpful tips

For grilled beef, add a squeeze of lemon after cooking. For a deeper flavor, add the seasoning before browning, not at the very end.

Conclusion

This homemade beef spice mix is simple, warm and practical. It gives beef more character while staying easy to adjust to your taste.
