A Simple, Natural Way to Stay Protected on Walks
Spending time outdoors is one of life’s joys — until ticks show up. These tiny pests can carry big problems, but that doesn’t mean you need to reach for harsh chemicals. With this easy rosemary-based spray, you can enjoy nature with peace of mind.
2 sprigs of fresh or dried rosemary
2 cups (500 ml) of water
Optional: 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar for extra bug-repelling power
Bring the water to a boil.
Add the rosemary and let it steep for 30 minutes, covered.
Strain out the herbs and allow the liquid to cool.
Pour into a clean spray bottle — and you’re good to go!
💡 Store it in the fridge for a week and give it a shake before each use.
Spray directly onto pants, socks, shoes, backpacks or any exposed clothing before heading outdoors.
You can also apply a light mist on your dog’s legs and back (avoid eyes, nose, and mouth).
Reapply every 2–3 hours if you’re out for an extended period.
Rosemary’s strong aroma naturally helps deter ticks, fleas, and some biting insects — making it a perfect plant-based alternative to chemical sprays. It’s also safe to use around kids and pets in small doses.
To stay even more protected:
Stick to clear trails and avoid brushing up against tall grass
Wear light-colored clothing to easily spot ticks
Do a full body check (including pets!) when you get home
Keep a tick removal tool in your first aid kit
