Baked-on oven grease can look impossible to remove, especially when it has hardened after several cooking sessions. The easiest approach is to soften it first, then lift it gradually instead of scraping aggressively.
Remove loose crumbs and take out the racks. Place a heatproof bowl of hot water inside the cool oven and close the door for 15 to 20 minutes. The steam helps loosen dried grease and makes the next step easier.
Mix the baking soda with warm water to form a spreadable paste. Apply it to greasy areas, avoiding heating elements, fans and electrical parts. Leave it for 30 to 60 minutes depending on how thick the grease is.
Use a damp sponge to wipe away the paste and softened grease. If some marks remain, use a plastic scraper gently, never a metal blade on glass or enamel.
Rinse the surface with a clean damp cloth, then dry it well. If needed, repeat the process rather than using too much force in one pass.
Removing baked-on oven grease is easier when you give the residue time to soften. Steam, a simple paste and patient wiping can clean most everyday buildup without damaging the oven surface.
