A dishwasher tablet that does not dissolve can indicate a blocked dispenser, poor water circulation, an unsuitable cycle, or a filling or heating problem.
Start with these six checks before considering repairs.
A tall plate, pan handle, or utensil can block the detergent door. Leave clear space around it and any tablet collecting tray.
With the appliance off, gently rotate the spray arms by hand. Rearrange anything that obstructs them.
Remove old detergent residue and dry the dispenser before adding a tablet. Handle tablets with dry hands and store them sealed away from moisture.
Follow the packaging instructions: remove disposable wrappers, but leave water-soluble film intact.
Blocked spray holes can prevent water from reaching the detergent. Let the appliance cool, then remove the arms only as directed in the manual.
Rinse them and gently clear debris using the manufacturer’s recommended method. Do not enlarge the holes or force tools into them. Refit securely.
Some tablets dissolve poorly during very short programs. Check the detergent packaging and dishwasher manual for compatible cycles.
Choose a suitable full wash program and let it finish. An interrupted cycle can leave a partly dissolved tablet.
Confirm that the water supply valve is open and any safely accessible inlet hose is not kinked.
Running the hot tap is relevant only to hot-water-connected models. Follow your manual; cold-fill dishwashers heat their own water.
If filling or heating remains abnormal, consult the troubleshooting guide or arrange service.
Clean and refit the filter according to the manual. Keep dishes separated so water can circulate and reach the dispenser.
Do not stack items tightly or cover the tablet collecting tray.
If there is leaking or a burning smell, stop using the appliance. Disconnect power if safe and arrange qualified service.
For an error code, check its meaning in the manual. Persistent dispenser, filling, or heating problems may need repair.
Use the closed detergent dispenser unless the manufacturer explicitly instructs otherwise.
Moisture-damaged tablets may dissolve poorly. Try a fresh, correctly stored tablet.
Check detergent release, water circulation, and cycle compatibility first. Follow model-specific instructions before replacing parts.
